这几天做翻译，看到这句话“Over the past decade global e-commerce has been expanding at an average rate of 20% a year as bricks-and-mortar shops have languished.”
乍一看这句话一点都不难，可是一下笔就翻成了“在过去的十年里”，怎么看怎么别扭。啥时候人话都不会说了，明明一句“这十年”就能解决的事，干嘛非得啰啰嗦嗦叨逼叨逼说成“在过去的十年里”。看到了英文的“past”，不翻出来就浑身难受，感觉像拉屎拉了半截一样，不拉不畅快。
前天看到另外一句话“anyone who grew up in Grand Rapids and left thirty years ago would not recognize the skyline if they saw it today.”这句话啰啰嗦嗦那么多字，无非就是“三十年间，大激流市发生了翻天覆地的变化。”
母语很重要，不能忘，不能忘。
